Our charity concerns are close to our hearts; supporting Muscular Dystrophy - a member of a previous Company Directors family suffers this debilitating disease, and Ashbourne and District Animal Welfare Society, whose dedicated volunteers are also some of our valued customers. They do sterling work re-homing the area’s unwanted dogs and cats – several of which have found their way into the homes of our staff!
History of Beechdale Motor Group
Beechdale Motor Group Ltd was incorporated in June 1982 by then Directors Mike Wood and Les Waterfall. Mike Wood was already in the motor trade and Les brought his expertise from the world of banking into the business. The company commenced trading in September 1982 with Saab from the original site at Beechdale Road in Nottingham. In 1984, a second Nottingham property was purchased to become the new home of Saab when the Chrysler Jeep franchise was brought into Beechdale Road in 1993. After many successful years ini Nottingham, 1997 saw the aquisition of the Saab franchise in Derby, Subaru Isuzu was then added in late 1998; further enchancing Beechdales prescense and reputation in Derby. In October 2000, with the addition of Subaru Isuzu to the Nottingham portfolio, the company re-located all the Nottingham operations to a magnificent 3 acre site on Lenton Lane.
Mike Wood reached his time for retirement in 2004 and a major company re-structure was necessary to facilitate this. The Lenton Lane, Nottingham site was sold and Mike passed the Derby Saab dealership into the control of his son's under the name "Beechwood". Meanwhile, Les retained Beechdales' Subaru Isuzu dealership in Derby and immediatly added the new SsangYong franchise.
October 2004 saw a major diversification added to the Beechdale group, a decision was made to retail the Shire range of compact tractors. Being from a farming background, and involved in Shire itself, Les took sole responsibility for this side of the business, retailing and servicing them from our Matlock site.
In 2006, we received a double opportunity, to take on a further prestigious franchise and to move into a fantastic new site, with the space to fully present our range of vehicles. The franchise was Alfa Romeo and the site was our current home at the Parker Centre. At this time, while Les is most capable, he felt his sholders were not broad enough for this additional responsibility and invited his long time General Manager, John Oldfield to join him as Co-Director. John gladly accepted and was quick to step up to the challenge of this new role.
Our Manufacturers
We choose our manufacturers for what they can give to our customers, and we will only consider a manufacturer that can offer that little bit more in safety, technology and power, and that little difference in innovation, beauty and design to be totally individual.
