History of Beechdale Motor Group
Beechdale Motor Group was incorparted in June 1982 by then directors Mike Wood and Les Waterfall

The company commenced trading with Saab in September of that year from Beechdale Road in Nottingham. In 1984, a second Nottingham property was purchased on Talbot Street, which became the home of Saab, when in 1993, the Chrysler Jeep franchise was added at Beechdale Road. 1997 saw the next major development, with the acquisition of the Saab franchise in Derby. Subaru Isuzu was added in Derby during late 1998.  In October 2000, the company relocated both its Nottingham operations to a superb 3-acre site on Lenton Lane, Nottingham, where Subaru Isuzu then joined them.

The company has been involved in Motor Sport, namely Rallying, from an early stage when we supplied the support for Saab and their Swedish drivers in the RAC. Les even went back to his youth, donning overalls and getting down and dirty with the technical work in freezing conditions. Later Mike's son David, who has since tragically passed away, started driving competitively in a Subaru with Les as his Co-Driver. They enjoyed extensive success climbing to 2nd place in Group N. In 2001 David was involved in a terrible accident in the Peak District which cost his life. Sadly, Les felt unable to continue after losing his partner.

2004…A NEW ERA DAWNS!!
In order to facilitate the retirement of Mike Wood, a company restructure took place. The Nottingham operation was sold and Mike passed the Saab dealership on to his sons.

Les retained Beechdale's presence in Derby with Subaru and Isuzu and immediately added the new SsangYong Rexton franchise at Derby. In addition, SsangYong was introduced to a new site in Matlock along with a prestigious used car operation.

October 2004 saw a major diversification in our business activities. A decision was made to retail a superb range of compact tractors called SHIRE. The range currently stands at 4 models, full details may be found at www.shiretractors.co.uk
